About Us

Leeds Voluntary Sector Learning Disabilities Forum started in 1991 and is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.

The Forum is a membership organisation and supports any voluntary and community sector organisations who work with and for learning disabled people, in some way, in Leeds.

Our vision - what we are working towards

Voluntary community and faith organisations, large and small, working together to bring about positive change in the lives of learning disabled people.
The focus for such change will be removing the barriers which stop learning disabled people from having real choice and control in their lives.

This vision is underpinned by values of:

Working collectively as independent voluntary, community and faith organisations whilst showing commitment to partnership working and respecting:

  • Diversity
  • Differing opinions
  • The contribution that learning disabled people make as active citizens
  • Promoting the running and control of organisations by learning disabled people

The Forum will work with integrity, openness, honesty, fairness and trust. Any work and campaigning carried out in the name of the Forum will be done with a can do attitude and a willingness to create positive change.

The Forum recognises the unique contribution of voluntary, community and faith organisations in achieving this vision.
